1. Who We Are
LinguaNest is operated by LinguaNest Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales. Our service connects families across Europe to help children learn languages and make international friendships through supervised pen pal relationships and small language groups.

2. Who Can Use LinguaNest
You must be 18 or over to create a LinguaNest account. By signing up, you confirm that:
- You are a parent or legal guardian of any child who will use the service
- You take full responsibility for your child's use of LinguaNest
- All information you provide is accurate and truthful
- You are based in Europe (the United Kingdom or a member state of the European Union)
3. The Service We Provide
LinguaNest provides a platform that:
- Matches families with children learning complementary languages
- Enables supervised written correspondence, voice messages, and (when available) video calls between matched children
- Provides a parent dashboard where you can monitor all communications
- Offers small supervised language groups for children
We reserve the right to change, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of the service at any time. We will give reasonable notice of significant changes wherever possible.
4. Subscriptions and Payment
LinguaNest is offered on the following basis:
- Free trial: One pen pal match at no cost, no payment details required
- Full subscription: £4.33 per month (equivalent to £1 per week), charged monthly to your chosen payment method
Your subscription covers your entire household — all children in your home are included at no extra charge. There are no premium tiers, no add-ons, and no additional charges beyond the monthly subscription fee. This will never change.
Payments are processed securely by Stripe. LinguaNest never sees or stores your payment card details.
Subscriptions renew automatically each month. You may cancel at any time from your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period — you will not be charged again after cancellation.
We do not offer refunds for partial months, but if you experience a technical problem that prevents you from using the service, please contact us and we will deal with it fairly.
5. Your Responsibilities
By using LinguaNest you agree to:
- Use the service only for its intended purpose — connecting families for language learning and friendship
- Ensure your child communicates respectfully and kindly with their pen pal and any group members
- Not share another family's personal information outside of LinguaNest
- Not use the service for any commercial, political, or promotional purpose
- Supervise your child's use of the platform in a manner appropriate for their age
- Report anything concerning to us immediately at hello@linguanest.co.uk
You must not attempt to bypass, damage, or interfere with the security or operation of the platform.
6. Content and Messages
You retain ownership of any content you or your child sends through LinguaNest. By sending content on our platform, you grant us a limited licence to store and display it for the purpose of providing the service.
We do not proactively read private messages between families. However, we reserve the right to review flagged content and to take action — including removing content or suspending accounts — if we become aware of a breach of these terms or behaviour that puts users at risk.
Messages cannot be deleted by children. Only a parent or guardian with account access may delete messages. All deletions are logged.
7. Behaviour We Won't Tolerate
We will suspend or permanently close any account where a parent or child:
- Sends content that is abusive, threatening, sexual, or inappropriate for children
- Attempts to arrange contact with another family's child outside of LinguaNest
- Misrepresents their identity or their child's age
- Harasses or bullies another family
- Attempts to share another family's details with third parties
In serious cases, particularly those involving child safety, we will cooperate fully with the relevant authorities.
8. Our Liability
LinguaNest Ltd provides the platform and the matching service — we are not responsible for the content of messages exchanged between families. Parents are responsible for supervising their children's use of the service.
We take reasonable steps to ensure the platform is secure and available, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted access. We are not liable for any loss arising from downtime, technical issues, or circumstances beyond our reasonable control.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death, personal injury caused by our negligence, or fraud.
9. Ending Your Account
You may close your account at any time from your account settings or by emailing hello@linguanest.co.uk. Upon closure, your family profile and message history will be deleted within 30 days, in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
We may close your account if you breach these terms, with or without notice depending on the severity of the breach.
10. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify you by email at least 14 days before any significant change takes effect. Continuing to use the service after that date means you accept the updated terms. If you don't agree, you may close your account before the changes take effect.
11. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
